Happy first day of school!

Dear TMEMS families,

Happy first day of school!  All the students are safely in their classrooms and we are happy to say, as of just a few moments after classes began, there were no tears throughout the school. It is wonderful to see all the smiling eyes and hear all the excited conversations as we walk down the hall.  The students have really grown and it is so nice to see them back on campus!

Thank you all for your kindness this morning during drop-off.  With all the first day of school pictures and jitters, along with parents parking to walk their children to the door, we did see a backup of cars.  This happens every year on the first day of school and as parents begin to use the Elementary Quick Drop-off (red curb), it flows nicely and there is rarely a backup.  We appreciate your patience and understanding, as everyone gets into routine.  Of course, we will adjust the procedures, if needed, throughout the year.

Some quick reminders for pick-up today:

•       If the weather is bad and indoor pick-up is needed, it will be the same procedure as last year.  We will send those details out in another email.

•       Kindergarten parents- your child will be in their normal pick-up spot for half-day pick-up this week at 12:31 pm.  Montano Campus Kindergarten- This is located in front of the school buses.  Carmel Campus Kindergarten- Your child will be at the front gate where you dropped off.  Beginning next week, your Kindergarten student will begin their full day schedule.

•       Middle School families- if your middle school student is ever on a fieldtrip or absent and will not be picked up during the normal 3:30 – 3:45 pm pick-up time, please know that their siblings will remain in the normal pick-up place and times (Middle School pick-up from 3:30 – 3:45 pm).

Drop-off reminders for tomorrow:

•       Montano Campus Elementary side families-  We encourage Elementary side families to try the Quick Drop-off method!  Just pull up to the red circle curb and let your child out on the right side, directly onto the sidewalk.  Please remember when using the Quick Drop-off method that the driver cannot exit the vehicle and students should not exit on the left side of the vehicle (there is another lane of traffic on the left).  Another thing to note is that we ask that you not let your child out until they are on the red curb for their safety.  We will be directing you to pull up all the way to the end in order to keep the flow of traffic going and not cause a backup so please follow the directions of staff members as they ask you to pull your car to the end of the curb before letting your child exit.  If you feel that you need to help your child out of the car or just need more time, please park your vehicle in a parking spot and take all the time you need.

•       Montano Campus Middle School side families-  Please remember that there are two lanes for the drive-thru drop-off and pick-up.  We ask that you use both to help prevent a backup of cars.  We also ask that you keep your child(ren) in your vehicle until you are one of the first two cars in each lane inside the painted boxes (which are in front of the staff member in the orange vest who is directing traffic).  Please do not let your child exit until that point as it is dangerous to have students walking between cars further back in the line.

If you have any other questions, feel free to call or email us.  Again, we appreciate your patience and kindness!
