Families of 3 year old students, 4 year old students and Kindergarten students:
We are excited to have your child join our 3 year old, 4 year old and Kindergarten programs! This is an exciting time in your little one’s life and we want to help your child (and you!) be successful in our program. Below is some information to help you get ready for the new school year.
By the end of July, your child should receive a personalized postcard from their teacher. This postcard is to welcome you to our school, let you know who your child's teacher will be, and will also provide you with the time of your individual parent/teacher meeting during the first week of school. If you did not receive the postcard by the end of July, please call the school to let us know!
Montano Campus vs. Carmel Campus:
On the postcard, please note which teacher your child has. If your child is in Ms. Sharon or Ms. Jill's class, your child is at our Montano Campus (1730 Montano Rd NW). If your child is in Ms. Melissa or Ms. Melody's class, they are at our Carmel Campus (5801 Carmel NE). When we send communication out throughout the year, you will need to pay attention to which campus we are referring to. Our programs are the same at both campuses; both rich in a fine arts and Montessori education.
Important information to help your child be ready:
We encourage you to read the following document: "How to successfully prepare your child for our Preschool & Kindergarten program". Please note that children may NOT wear diapers or pull-ups in our programs.
Another good document to read over the summer is: "What you can do at home to help support what your child is doing at school".
This document gives good information as to how we tie in the Montessori approach to education on a day to day basis. Please read through the document thoroughly so your child, and you, are prepared to start the school year off right!
3 year old & 4 year old Families:
By now you should have already paid your $200 registration fee to TMES. Monthly tuition is due on the 1st of every month. Your first payment of $715 is due August 1st. Please only send or drop-off payment to our Montano Campus at: 1730 Montano Rd NW, ABQ 87107, Attn: Ms. Lorraine. Thank you for your prompt payment!
Schoolwide Back to School Information:
Please make sure to read through the schoolwide back-to-school info on our website at: https://tmesnm.com/school-life/back-to-school-info-2016-2017
We have two scheduled open houses, one for each campus. This is a great time to meet the teacher, see the classrooms, and meet other families at this informal, short event. You are welcome to bring the whole family if you like!
- Carmel Campus Open House: Tuesday, August 6th from 5:30 - 6:30 pm at the Carmel Campus
- Montano Campus Open House: Tuesday, August 6th from 4:00 - 5:00 pm at the Montano Campus
Half Day Schedule during the First Week of School:
Our 3 year old, 4 year olds & Kindergarten students will be on a half day schedule August 7th - 9th at both Campuses. Please be prepared to pick up your child between 12:30 - 1:00 pm those days. After Care is not available for your 3 year old, 4 year old, or Kindergarten child during any of those afternoons. The first full day schedule for your child will begin on Monday, August 12th. After Care will also be available for your child beginning on August 12th.
Volunteering in the Classroom:
We love volunteers! TMES/TMMS/Casita requires that all volunteers have an approved background check on file. Although we do not have any volunteers until after the first 6 weeks of school, it is not a bad idea to go ahead and start the background check procedure now. Once it is approved, you are welcome to contact your child’s teacher directly for volunteer opportunities. We will also advertise school-wide volunteer opportunities throughout the school year. Your background check is valid for the entire time your child is a student at our school. For more details about the Background Check Procedure, go to: https://tmesnm.com/school-life/background-check
Montessori Method & You:
We highly encourage you to educate yourself about the Montessori method. Knowing the philosophy behind the Montessori method will help you understand what your child’s day will be like, how we approach education, and why we do things the way we do. Our website has lots of great Montessori information including links to videos and expert articles.
